Deep laser engraving can be used small and complex parts that are impossible to reach with mechanical engraving equipment.
An important advantage of using lasers for engraving molds is that it works equally well on hardened steel surfaces. Within this context, they have similar properties to EDM, also called spark eroding. However, it’s generally faster, easier to create, and requires no expensive consumables such as electrolyte and electrodes.
On the flip side, in case the number of material to be removed is significant, then conventional CNC milling could be faster or far better.

Limitations of Laser Engraving

Likewise, lasers cannot replace a milling machine that includes a higher material removal capacity.
